R.I.P. stOrk /Korn Guitarist Shane Paul Gibson

I had the pleasure of knowing and hanging out with this really rad dude. He was an amazing guitarist and has touched the lives of many through his music. A lot of fans out there are familiar with Shane Gibson playing for Jonathan Davis’s solo project and eventually for Korn for several years in place of Brian ‘Head’ Welch. He also founded the prog metal band stOrk who is set to release their album Broken Pieces April 29th 2014.

It was quite a shock when I woke up this morning to hear the news.  He was only 35 years old and had so many years left in him. We know he’s still rocking even outside of this crazy world. His music and memories will live on forever and will help influence future musicians for many years to come. Below is the official statement from his band stOrk. I also decided to add a few videos where you can check out his amazing work including his other project SchwarZenator which is friggen awesome.

Nothing but Respect and Peace. \m/

Here is the official announcement on the stOrk band page:

It is with deepest sadness and regret that we must confirm that stOrk founding member and lead guitarist Shane Paul Gibson passed away at 5:45 AM on April 15th, 2014 in the UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama as a result of complications from a blood clotting disorder. He was 35 years old. He was one of the best guitar players the world has ever known and his virtuosity was matched only by his wit and generosity of spirit. He will be missed beyond measure.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all those who loved him as much as we did.
